We went to Oyster Beach for the day - with a car load of oyster lovers - sailor slept on the way (late night) getting energy for the big run around, swim and play for the day. Was a great day - the tide was super low so we were able to walk right around the back of the rocks and swim in the rock pools underneath the hollows in the rocks. . .  (prepare yourselves for a ton of photos ....)
cape arnhem
kanesha in her sand bed
charles in the sand
digging holes
rambo-style
stripy style
in the waves
a storm blew in around midday but we escaped with only a few rain drops and the sound of thunder
hunting crab
round the rocks to the oyster hunters
the ladies sit at the rocks and collect oysters for hours - filling up containers of them to take home
landscape !

the strangest thing is that I G G Y who will only eat meat, bread and cheese ( i have never seen a vegetable pass by his lips) just  L O V E S  rock oysters -  i can knock them off the rock for him and he'll sit and happily eat em up ... charles loves em too ... although i think in this photo he is drinking saltwater ... it was a cup fill of oysters at one time ...
rockpools

swimming through the rockpools under the rock arches - tres cool
charles spotted a M A S S I V E crab hiding up under the rocks and so kade, man that he is, set about trying to capture and kill
trying to stab it with a stick that kept breaking ... everyone was squealing and jumping around
until Watjumi wandered oh-so-casually over and knocked off its claws with a hammer ...
doesn't look so scary without its claws ...
but still so Y U M
on the drive home we managed to not kill ourselves thanks to Kade's driving as the steering shaft on the Will's car decided that it would break as we drove 80kms an hour down the dirt road - we were flung off into the ditch but managed to miss all the trees and rolling over ... bloody lucky really ...  a little quiet sit on the side of the road while Kade went to get Rob's car and we were home ... the adventure never stops ...
waiting for someone to drive by and rescue us

someone has yarn-bombed a tree in the carpark in town ...
remarkable ... and rainbow too ...
it even made the papers ...

speaking of rainbows ... kade and rob did a hit and run on this rainbow serpent ... the photos don't do the size of this thing justice - we are talking massive big ginormous long and super scary ...
very much dead thou
the weirdest thing about the dead long snake is that this corner (just before the bridge) is apparently a popular crossing point for these pythons, like a zebra crossing for snakes, and so people hit them here all the time ... go figure

on the weekend jane and me made cake - a chocolate and cinnamon flan actually ... inspired to cook in this heat ... must be mental ... we had a tea splash pool party on sunday and pretty much ate the wholething in one sitting so despite its slightly crooked disposition that is an indication of its mucho deliciousness

pretty spots

it is hot ... have i mentioned how hot it is ... H O T ...  H O T ... H O T
its been awhile since the last post ... not much and alot has happened - the way things are up here ...
a few things that did happen  .. some photos to jog the memory

kade went to Sydney for sculpture by the sea with Nawurapu
mokuy on the rocks

we went to a gala dinner in nhulunbuy for the Chamber of Commerce, possibly the most adult thing I have ever done ...  there was a "fashion" parade by 'expressions' boutique  ( the fashion hub for town, if not in-fact the whole peninsula ) and some speeches. It was ... insightful ....   probably I would have enjoyed it more if I had a couple of glasses of wine but I was the sober driver ( and also incredibly hungover from the night  before ...)
all dressed up with somewhere to go
(we even made the social pages in the local rag ..hah!)

We took the boys treat'n'treating for Halloween with the other arts centre kids - Sailor got overwhelmed and refused to get dressed up and go walking the streets for sweets, Iggy was a somewhat willing  participant though really he had no idea who what where why.  Two houses in town went to town (ha) and created haunted houses to freak people out - seriously alot of effort went in - there was gravestones, freddy krueger, coffins, spiderwebs, creepy stuff, music, smoke machines - this totally freaked sailor out but iggy loved it ha!

however the major event recently was sailor's sixth birthday woop woop!  we had a party last sunday at the park with a cake, tug-o-war and what felt like 50 young boys (but was only about 8) running around - it was good wholesome fun.  and now sailor is SIX which seems impossible to believe
cake!
now T H A T ' S  a healthy meal
casio dressed up as a super dog for the occasion
tug o war

other than that - things are cruising at work - it is hot here and the heat tires you out quickly, We have not managed to do much in between that is worthy much of a write up ... planning our end of the year when Kade flies to America on Boxing Day- all the way to Ketchum, Idaho and negative thirty degrees (!) F R E E Z I N G and thee boys and me fly to melbourne YAY and then new zealand YAY YAY
